Reasons Why Women need The PF Lounge

Why So Many Women Are Talking About Their Pelvic Floor (And Why They Don't Have To "Just Live With It")

For years, women have been told that bladder leaks, pelvic pressure, and changes after pregnancy or menopause are simply "part of getting older." The truth is, they're common—but they aren't something you have to accept.

At The PF Lounge, we meet women every day who have quietly adjusted their lives around their pelvic floor symptoms. They wear pads "just in case." They avoid jumping on the trampoline with their grandchildren. They stop exercising, laugh a little less, and worry about finding the nearest restroom everywhere they go.

The good news? There are non-invasive options that may help you regain confidence and improve your quality of life.

What Is Your Pelvic Floor?

Your pelvic floor is a group of muscles that forms a supportive hammock across the bottom of your pelvis. These muscles help support your bladder, uterus, and bowel while also playing an important role in bladder control, bowel control, core stability, posture, and intimacy.

When these muscles become weak—or sometimes too tight—they can lead to a variety of symptoms.

Signs Your Pelvic Floor May Need Attention

You may benefit from improving your pelvic floor strength if you:

  • Leak urine when you cough, sneeze, laugh, or exercise

  • Wake up multiple times during the night to urinate

  • Feel sudden, urgent trips to the bathroom

  • Experience pelvic pressure or heaviness

  • Have been told you have pelvic organ prolapse

  • Continue leaking after having children

  • Feel your core isn't as strong as it used to be

  • Avoid exercise because of bladder leaks

  • Wear pads daily "just in case"

  • Experience decreased confidence during intimacy

Pregnancy and Childbirth

Pregnancy is one of the biggest changes your pelvic floor will ever experience.

Your muscles stretch significantly to support your growing baby and during delivery. Even women who have Cesarean births can experience pelvic floor changes because of the extra weight and pressure during pregnancy.

Many new moms believe leaking after having a baby is normal.

It's common—but it doesn't have to become your new normal.

Menopause Changes Everything

As estrogen levels decline, pelvic tissues lose some of their strength and elasticity. Many women notice:

  • More frequent bladder leaks

  • Increased urgency

  • More nighttime bathroom trips

  • Reduced pelvic support

  • Changes in intimacy

These changes can happen gradually, making many women think they're simply "getting older."

Pelvic Organ Prolapse

If you've ever felt a heaviness or bulging sensation in your pelvis, you may have pelvic organ prolapse.

This happens when the pelvic floor no longer provides enough support for the pelvic organs.

While every woman is different, strengthening the pelvic floor is often an important part of improving support and function.

An Active Lifestyle Shouldn't Cause Leaks

Many women stop doing activities they love because of bladder leakage.

Maybe it's:

  • Pickleball

  • Golf

  • Hiking

  • Running

  • Dancing

  • Fitness classes

  • Playing with grandchildren

Your bladder shouldn't decide what you can enjoy.

It's More Than Just Bladder Control

A healthy pelvic floor contributes to:

  • Better posture

  • Improved core stability

  • Increased confidence

  • Better bowel control

  • Improved intimacy

  • Greater independence

  • Better quality of life
